National Surfing Survey Set To Provide Biggest Insight into Kiwi Surfing Community
Surfing New Zealand has today (Tuesday 8th November) launched the National Surfing Survey to gain the broadest insight yet into the Kiwi surfing community.
It is well known that the coastline around New Zealand plays host to tens of thousands of adventure-seeking surfers every day as they search for the best waves and optimal conditions to get their enjoyment out of the ocean.
Sport New Zealand figures show that there are 145,000 surfers that share waves up and down our coastlines. However, current and relevant data about the 145,000 surfers is not as well understood.
This survey aims to delve deeper into New Zealand’s enthusiastic surfing community and bring to light that detail.
The survey touches on a number of general surfing questions, participation habits, travel questions, sport development, viewing habits, describing surfing and demographics.
“This project provides us with a great deal of data that we can use to improve our service delivery across all of our initiatives” Surfing New Zealand CEO Greg Townsend said.
“We can share the information with the surfing community, our partners and our network of boardrider clubs and surf schools so that we all have a comprehensive understanding of what makes our community tick” added Townsend.
As an incentive for the surfing community, all survey responses go in the draw for a one-off prize of $1,000 to spend at one of 20 Amazon stores located throughout the country.
The National Surfing Survey runs for two weeks through until Tuesday 22nd November.
