Skullcandy Gash Gore: Oct-Nov Winner.

Heading away for a surf adventure is an epic feeling, but when that gets cut short through injury and you spend your time in the A&E, that’s not so cool. Don Whiteside takes up the story of his mishap.
“Surfing the East Cape with my son for a week we ended up in Gisborne staying at The Boardroom, surfing at least twice daily at a few spots including Makarori.
Last session of the day on some small but longboardable waves, I’d caught one in and finished the run, but instead of hopping back down on my board I decided for some stupid reason to hop off, I looked up first and figured I was in line with the stairs (to the left of them from the ocean POV, lies rocks), anyway I misjudged it and hit one of those rocks with my right leg, it hurt like buggery, but I went back out for another ride. Once I got back out there, I could see a bit of red leakage from my wetsuit leg, so I rode one into the beach and sure enough, I had a hole in the wetsuit where the rocks had ripped and gashed my leg. Once the wetsuit was off I could see the shin bone, and it was off to the hospital for a few stitches and an unfortunate few weeks out of the water.”
