BREAKING NEWS!!!! Ella Williams Olympics Bound.
After progressing through to Round 5 repechage at the ISA World Surfing Games in Japan, Whangamata’s Ella Williams has just Qualified a spot for herself at Tokyo 2020 by way of finishing highest competitor at the Worlds from Oceania.
A massive result for the 2014 World Junior Champion!!! While surfing NZ still has to nominate Ella and be accepted by the NZ Olympic Committee, we simply see these as formalities that WILL happen, considering this is the introduction year for surfing in the Olympics, and with Ella’s track record on the World Tour a genuinely good result is well within her capabilities.
We will bring you some words from Ella as soon as we reach her after todays competition.
